The first “Happy Healthy Kids” Health Expo, hosted by Batesville Community Schools, brought together families, healthcare professionals, and community partners to promote student wellness through free health screenings, safety education, and literacy initiatives.

Held Feb. 11 at the Batesville Community Center, the event featured more than 20 booths from local businesses and healthcare providers, offering vision screenings, flu shots, and health education resources. Families had the opportunity to engage with medical professionals and learn about preventive care and community support services.

Lorrie McClure, Batesville Community Schools preschool site coordinator, expressed gratitude for the community’s support and emphasized the importance of continuing these efforts.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a success,” McClure said. “With more than 20 community partners involved, we were able to provide essential health screenings and safety education to many children. Offering these services for free is crucial in building a healthier future. By working together, we can ensure every child has access to the resources they need to grow, learn, and thrive.”

McClure also acknowledged the efforts of the Batesville Community Schools team in organizing the event.

“Each member of our team worked diligently to bring this vision to life,” she said. “Their dedication and passion for supporting families truly made this event possible. There is a clear need in our community for accessible health services, and we plan to continue hosting this event in the future.”

Batesville School District Superintendent Dr. Ken James credited community partnerships and school staff for the expo’s success.

“The success of the ‘Happy Healthy Kids’ Health Expo highlights the strength of our community partnerships and the dedication of our Batesville Community Schools team,” James said. “We are proud to support initiatives that strengthen families and invest in a healthier future for our students.”
