
Lula Mae (Lucas) Lawson, 100, of Harrisburg, passed from this life on March 5, 2025. She was born in Newport on June 10, 1924, to Harvey and Bessie (Summers) Lucas.
Lula dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family, finding her greatest joy in the love, laughter, and warmth of those she cherished most. She was a woman of strength, kindness, and unwavering love, always putting her family first and ensuring their happiness and well-being.
She had a passion for cooking, filling her home with delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and love, where stories were shared over homemade dishes. Lula also had a love for shopping, always finding joy in picking out the perfect treasures for herself and her loved ones.
Her green thumb could be seen in the beautiful vegetable garden she nurtured, finding peace and satisfaction in watching things grow. Lula also loved collecting photos, cherishing the memories captured in each picture. Music and dancing brought her happiness, and she never missed a chance to enjoy the rhythm of life.
Lula was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend known for her generous heart and unwavering support. She left an imprint on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her wisdom, warmth, and love will continue to live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Franklin Lawson; her daughter, Kathy Causey; her grandson, Chad McMillan; her brothers, Bobby Joe Lucas and Cecil Wayne Lucas; her sisters, Jeannie Wiles, Bonnie Jones, Dorothy Criss, and Lucy Marietta Rees.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Harper of South Haven, Mississippi, and Donald Lawson and wife Darlene of Tuckerman; her daughters, Patsy Crouse and husband Daniel of Lowell, Indiana, and Mary Stegbauer of Harrisburg; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.
