
The Lyon College Scottish Heritage Program and Convocation Committee will present “An Afternoon with Máire Ní Chathasaigh and Chris Newman,” a world-renowned harp and acoustic guitar duo, on Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m.
The concert will be held in the Bevens Music Room, Brown Fine Arts Building at Lyon College, located at 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.
The event, sponsored by Renate Rosenthal in memory of her late husband, Robert L. Campbell, is free and open to the public.
Máire Ní Chathasaigh, a renowned Irish harpist, was named Traditional Musician of the Year – Gradam Ceoil TG4 in 2001. She is known for her contributions to the Irish harp tradition and has performed at events including the World Harp Congress.
Chris Newman, an acoustic guitarist, has collaborated with musicians such as Stéphane Grappelli and Boys of the Lough. He has a career spanning from producing records to performing on BBC’s “Top of the Pops.”
In addition to the concert, a masterclass for students, faculty and community members will be held on Monday, March 10, at 10 a.m. in the Bevens Music Room.
