Janice K. (Schales) McCorkle of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the age of 73. She was born May 24, 1951, in Jackson County, Arkansas, the daughter of Chris and Pearl (Roberts) Schales.
Mrs. McCorkle was a graduate of Newport High School, class of 1969. She went on to earn a Nursing Degree from Arkansas State University. Over her 40-year career as a Registered Nurse, she dedicated herself to caring for countless individuals before retiring in 2010. Mrs. McCorkle was well-regarded for her strong work ethic and her caring, empathetic nature.
On August 18, 1976, she married Mr. Mitch McCorkle, and together they enjoyed 48 wonderful years.
In her free time, Mrs. McCorkle loved watching television and solving word search puzzles. Above all, she cherished time spent with her animals and her family, especially by the pool.
Mrs. McCorkle was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Mitch McCorkle, of the home; her daughter, Susan Simmons and her husband, Aric, of Jonesboro; her step-son, Mike McCorkle and his wife, Cindy, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her step-daughter, Sherry Moore of Quitman, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Avery McCorkle of Frisco, Texas, Matthew McCorkle of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Justin and Alex Fike, both of Batesville, Arkansas; her beloved Pug, Princess; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
