Authorities have identified three Independence County residents who were killed in Friday night’s deadly storms, which left a path of destruction across the region.
Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said the victims were Evelyn Ginn, Norma Mobley, and Ellen Light. Their ages were not immediately available.
All three lived on Claxton Loop Road, with Mobley and Light, who were sisters, sharing a residence. Ginn’s home was located about 150 yards away, Stephens said.
In addition to the fatalities, at least 20 residents have been treated for injuries sustained during the storm and its aftermath. Cleanup efforts are ongoing, and power is in the process of being restored, according to Stephens.
