The National Weather Service in Little Rock is alerting residents of potentially dangerous weather conditions across much of Arkansas this weekend, with a high probability of severe storms capable of producing strong winds, large hail, and possibly tornadoes.
A volatile weather pattern is expected to develop Friday night, with rain likely beginning after 3 a.m. and temperatures holding steady around 61 degrees. Winds from the south-southeast could gust up to 20 mph.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue on Saturday, with highs near 74 degrees and an 80% chance of precipitation. Meteorologists caution that localized heavy rainfall is possible during thunderstorm activity.
The most significant threat is expected Sunday when severe weather is most likely to impact the eastern two-thirds of Arkansas. Showers and thunderstorms are forecasted primarily after 1 p.m., with temperatures expected to reach around 82 degrees and wind gusts potentially reaching 25 mph.
While the exact locations of the strongest storms remain uncertain, the National Weather Service stresses that all modes of severe weather are possible. Residents are advised to stay informed, have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
The storm system is expected to move eastward by Monday morning, potentially bringing continued severe weather risks to neighboring states.
Authorities urge residents in affected areas to monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions throughout the weekend.
