A 24-year-old man faces a felony rape charge following an investigation involving a pregnant 13-year-old girl, according to Stone County authorities.
Shane Alan Gilbert (pictured below) was arrested on March 27, 2025, and charged with one Class Y felony count of rape. His bond was set at $100,000, according to the arrest affidavit.
The investigation began on March 11 when Stone County dispatch received a call from a father requesting a deputy to take a report regarding his 13-year-old daughter allegedly pregnant by Gilbert.
According to the affidavit, the caller reported that Gilbert had been renting a camper on his property until mid-February. The father stated he had observed his daughter leaving Gilbert’s camper on two separate occasions before telling Gilbert to leave the property.
The juvenile was interviewed by authorities at the Stone County Sheriff’s Office on March 15, where she disclosed having sexual contact with Gilbert in the camper. The affidavit states that the victim indicated she and Gilbert had discussions about their age difference.
When contacted by investigators, Gilbert declined to voluntarily come to the sheriff’s office to provide a statement, the affidavit said.
