Community School of Cleburne County ‘Sparks’ new name

Officials announced Monday that after more than thirty years of serving individuals with developmental delays and disabilities, the Community School of Cleburne County is rebranding itself as Spark Community.

The nonprofit organization will formally unveil its new name and brand during a luncheon on Friday, April 18, at 11:30 a.m. at 74 Cleburne Park Road in Heber Springs.

Arkansas Rep. Alyssa Brown (pictured), Executive Director Rebecca Dwyer-Coop, and Stephanie Thompson, chair of the organization’s board, will speak.

“We are entering an era when we have more opportunity to serve the children, adults, and families in our five-county area than ever before,” Dwyer-Coop said in a statement. “This new name reflects the energy and mission of our work.”

Founded to support individuals with developmental challenges, the organization will continue to offer a wide range of services under its new name, including early childhood programs, developmental preschool, and pediatric healthcare.

Thompson said the name Spark was chosen to represent the potential in every individual. “Our organization takes the spark in each of us and works with us to reach our most complete selves,” she said.

The newly branded Spark Community offers early childhood education and care for children from six weeks to six years old, emphasizing cognitive development through exploration and play. Its REACH program also focuses on fostering social and emotional growth in young learners.
