Everett Edward Jones of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born September 21, 1937, in Tupelo, Arkansas, the son of James Allen and Alvera Jones.
Mr. Jones was a graduate of Newport High School. He joined the US Army after graduation, working as a H.A.M. radio operator. Mr. Jones was married to the love of his life, Brenda (Jackson) Jones for 62 years. He worked as a truck driver for Swift Transportation for over 43 years. His hobbies included doing yard work, hunting, eating ice cream, and watching movies and westerns. Mr. Jones loved his dogs, Molly and Annie, who brought him so much joy. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Jones was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Louise (Jackson) Jones; two brothers, Harold Jones and Gene Jones; one grandson, Johnathan Bridgeman; and his parents.
Mr. Jones is survived by three son, Dean Jones and wife, Leslie, of St. Ingoes, Maryland, Scott Jones and wife, Darla, of Henry, Illinois, and Richie Jones of Newport; two daughters, Mary Fears and husband, Ron, of Phoenix, Arizona and Sandy Bridgeman of Newport; six grandchildren, Cory Drew Jones, Jacqueline Warren, Zachary Tyler Jones, Crystal Nicole Lee, Crystopher Niko Jones, and Mary Elizabeth Bridgeman; many great grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.
The family will be conducting private services.
