Sammie Joe Anschultz of Weiner, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born October 2, 1937, in Tuckerman, Arkansas, the son of Homer Guin and Bertha Emaline (Ward) Anschultz.

Mr. Anschultz was a skilled welder who loved working alongside his wife, Patsy, at their family business, Sam’s Welding and Auger Flighting, until their retirement in 2014.

He was a 32◦ Master Mason of 60 years, and a Shriner.

Known as the founder of “Haw Thicket”, Mr. Anschultz was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked dancing and watching westerns. Most importantly, he loved his grandson and three great-grandsons. He thought his Patrick hung the moon all by himself…he was so proud of him. Mr. Anschultz derived great happiness from sitting on his porch, watching his great-grandkids ride motorcycles around and around the house.

He was a member of the Pitts Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Tracy Sullins and husband, Tony of Weiner; one grandson, Dr. Patrick Sullins and wife, Lora of Cave City; three great-grandsons, Samuel Maes Sullins, Ray Daniel Sullins, and Dean Anthony Sullins; his bonus daughter, Donna Gardner of Weiner; one brother, Thomas Earl Anschultz of Bay; one sister, Nancy Kemp of Harrisburg; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
