Fred V. Denison, 78 of Southside, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Southside. He was born November 11, 1944, in Batesville to Walter and Mabel (Driskill) Denison. Fred was a farmer and retired schoolteacher of 38 years with the Southside School District. He had a total investment of 66 years with the Southside School as a student, teacher, and school board member. Fred was also an active member of the Southside United Methodist Church for many years and was currently serving as a trustee. He was also a member of the Southside Water Board and was County Committee President of USDA Farm Service Agency. Fred enjoyed his farm, especially working with his cattle, driving his tractor, and running his chainsaw. He loved watching old westerns on TV, listening to Willie’s Roadhouse on Sirius Radio and telling stories and jokes. He loved to play corn hole and bowled on leagues in town for many years. He was a fan of the LA Dodgers, Green Bay Packers, Arkansas Razorbacks, and especially the Southside Southerners. His favorite pastime was attending and traveling to all of his grandkid’s activities while enjoying them with his loving wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Susan Denison; infant granddaughter, Angel Denison, one brother, Donald Wyatt Denison; two infant twin sisters, Barbara Sue and Betty Lou Denison.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Sue (Massey) Denison of the home. His sons are Fred Denison, Jr. (Kelly) and Bobby Denison (Jennifer) both of Southside. He was a grandfather to Kori Marie Denison of Jonesboro, Katie Jane Denison and Adam Reed Denison of Southside. He was uncle to Laura (Rocky) Sutton, Joel (Jinger) Massey, Mike (Doreen) Massey, Patti (Clive) Adams, and Liz Massey. He had a sister-in-law, Sally Jane Massey and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Southside High School Auditorium with Glenn Pettus and Roger Hopper officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.

Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel.

Arrangements are by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Pallbearers include Adam Denison, Lucan Doffin, Kevin Jackson, Bradey Nunnally, Billy Songer, and Russell VanWinkle. Honorary pallbearers include Jessica Sutton, Rocky Sutton, Forrest Jeffery, Fred Barnes, Jim Crosby, Rodney Harris, Phillip Thompson, Steve Millikin, and Duke Dunegan.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses that provided care for Fred during this time.
