The Aviation and Drone Class at Batesville High School Charter (BHSC) recently received a monetary donation in honor of a 2006 graduate currently deployed with the National Guard.

Former State Rep. Stu Smith made the donation to honor Chris Milum, who is also a member of the Batesville School Board. Milum serves with B Company, a local unit currently deployed as part of Operation Spartan Shield. (Click here for more information on B Company’s current deployment. Click here for more on Milum.)

“Chris has a love for flying and is one of the finest young men I have ever known,” Smith said in a Batesville School District release announcing his donation. “He is also a highly decorated member of the National Guard and will be away from home while serving our country for the next year. Godspeed, Chris.”

Milum’s father was also present to assist with this honor.

Aviation and Drone teacher Clint Howard said the class is excited to put those dollars to good use for the program. As a veteran himself, Howard said he greatly appreciated the sentiment behind Smith’s donation.
