Raymond “Butch” Smith of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, May 22, 2023. At the age of 56. He was born March 15, 1967, the son of J. D. Smith and Annie Mae (Chaney) Jackson.
Raymond was a graduate of Grubbs High School. He had a natural talent for woodworking and spent hours in his shop, crafting beautiful pieces. His other hobbies included interior design and looking for antiques. He retired from Shearer’s Food, after ten years of service.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one sister, Sherri Smith, and one niece, Tina Copeland.
He is survived by his father, J. D. Smith; his mother, Annie Mae (Chaney) Jackson; three nieces, Melisha McCorkle and fiancé, Zachery, of Weiner, Linda Mann and husband, Phillip, of Germany, and Samantha Walling and husband, Preston, of Calabash, North Carolina; great nieces and nephews, Katie McCorkle, Corrie Mann, Kenzie Mann, Emily Walling, Robert Walling, and Chandler Walling; special friend, Tim Davis; his beloved dog, Bailey; and a lifetime of friends.
