Obituary: Glen Edward Wren

Glen Edward Wren, 76, died on Friday, June 2, 2023, in his home in Batesville.

He was born July 4, 1946, in Batesville to Alvis Oscar Wren and Jannie Marie Willis Wren.

He enlisted in the Army in 1964. He served our country for three years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was a mentor and salesman for his entire career.

He had a beautiful voice and his daughters have fond memories of him singing in the choir. He was a kind, loving husband, always attentive to his wife’s wishes. He was known by all as a good and kind man. He tried every day to show her how much he loved her.

He had a love of animals. He spent thousands of dollars and devoted his time to feeding homeless cats. He referred to himself as ”The Feeder”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Jannie Wren, step-daughter, Deanna Dowell of Little Rock, and brother, Wesley O. Wren, Sr. of Batesville.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Greenfield Wren; two daughters, Lorie Schroeck and her husband Ted of Denver, Colorado, and Sarah Woods and husband Mike of Gainesville, Florida; two grandchildren, Katie Schroeck and Ryan Schoreck. He is survived by Harold Wren of Cushman and sister-in-law, Barbara Wren of Batesville and many nieces and nephews and copious friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home with Wesley Wren officiating.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Independence County Humane Society, 5 Environmental Drive, Batesville, AR 72501.
