The Chad and Gayle Treadway family of Magness, Arkansas’s Treadway Farms has been named the Independence County Farm Family of the Year.

Chad Treadway has been farming for 15 years, having 68 acres to farm in his first year. Now, Treadway farms a total of 5,000 acres. Major crops at Treadway Farms include corn, rice, soybeans, cotton, and hay.

The diverse farm requires around-the-clock care, Treadway says. On top of farming the 5,000 acres, the Treadways also maintain and own two other businesses. Their dozer operations began in 2022, and they complete custom farming for neighbors when needed.

Treadway says they would like to add some grain bins to their farm to better handle the grain post-harvest.

In addition to Gayle and his father, Tommy Treadway, Chad Treadway says his brother, Scott, and daughter Nikki Vinson, all play a part in the farm. Son Cody Melton works at Mark Martin Ford, while youngest son, Wyatt Treadway, is in his second year at Lyon College.
