Here’s a travel update for those heading to or through the Memphis area this weekend.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will close the I-55 Mississippi River Bridge on Friday, June 9, to continue construction activities on the I-55 and Crump Boulevard interchange.
The bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, June 9, to Monday, June 12, at 6 a.m.
TDOT contract crews will be setting beams for the new Wisconsin Bridge, constructing a cross-over at the east end of the I-55 bridge, and repairing the I-55 bridge. All work is weather dependent.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time. Drivers should also be aware of increased traffic congestion in the area.
Click here for the TDOT website to find more information about the closing and the new traffic patterns that will go into effect at the location beginning Monday morning.
