Roger C. Jones, Sr., of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 53. He was born July 18, 1969, in Groves, Texas, the son of Jimmie and Joyce (Burgess) Jones.
Roger was a 1987 Newport High School graduate and was the manager of Jones Home Furnishings. He was a hard worker, who helped move the store forward with changing times.
He enjoyed casino trips, and going to car shows. Roger’s greatest joy in life was his children, and he especially loved taking beach trips with his family.
He was a member of the Newport First Baptist Church.
Roger was preceded in death by his son, Roger C. Jones, Jr.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmie and Joyce (Burgess) Jones of Newport; his daughters, Lisa Jones of Newport, and Abigail Place of Little Rock; one brother, Blake Jones of Parkville, Maryland; his grandchildren, Caroline Jones, Seth Place, Tabitha Place, and Elizabeth Place; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit Newport First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 10, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with Bro. Greg Dills officiating. The interment will be at Watson Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Loyce Walker, Bobby Ross, Earl Johnson, Randall McGinnis, and Doug Tims. Ricky Simmons will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
