The Independence County Library and First Community Bank invite Lego enthusiasts of all ages to compete in the Super Sammy Lego Contest on Saturday, July 22.
Challengers will compete in one of five divisions: Grades K-1, Grades 2-3, Grades 4-6, Teen/Adult, or Team/Family. Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second place in each division. The first-place winner will receive $50, and the second-place winner will receive $25.
Challengers can set up their creation on Friday, July 21, between noon and 5 p.m. or Saturday, July 22, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Judging will occur at 1 p.m., and winners will be announced at the Ice Cream Party at 2 p.m.
To reserve a competitor number, please call the library at (870) 793-8814. Competitor numbers must be reserved by Thursday, July 20, at 6 p.m.
The contest is hosted in honor of Super Sammy Southall (pictured), who, after a long battle with cancer, passed away on July 7, 2019, at the age of 12.
Sammy loved his family and friends, drawing, Pokémon, eating ice cream, and building with Legos, the library said in the release.
