George M. Haner, Jr. 88, of Harrisburg, departed this life on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born October 8, 1934, in Dalton, AR the son of George (Sr.) and Mildred (Woodcock) Haner. His parents preceded him in death, also preceding him in death are his first wife: Betty Jo (Rickman) Haner, two brothers: Norman and Wayne Haner, and one sister: Lucille O’Brien. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing and playing the guitar and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Center and spending time with his family and friends. He was an ornamental welder and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. George served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959. He is survived by his wife Delena Ware of the home in Harrisburg, one daughter: Dottie Lankford of Arlington, TN, one son: Greg Haner (Tina) of Harrisburg, three step-sons: Jerry Ware, of Clewston, FL, John Ware, and Jeff Ware both of Indianapolis, IN, one brother, Ray Haner of Buhl, Idaho, one sister, Ruby Pratt of Jonesboro, eight grandchildren: Hillary Lankford Sanford, Melody Ezell, Jordan, Jake, Julia, and Leroy Ware and Kayla Fleming and 5 great-grandchildren: Hawkins Carl Sanford, Bayler Woods Sanford, Kylie Ezell, Kasen Ezell and Danielle Fleming. Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2023, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel. The interment will be in Wilson Cemetery. Bro. Kenny McMahan will conduct the service. Active pallbearers are Dewayne Buckley, and Andrew Sanford. Bob Chandler, Joey Smith, David Reeves, Robert “Shorty” Chandler, Roy Drum, Donald Pratt and the men of Shiloh Baptist Church and members of the Senior Citizen Center.
