Russell P. Burrow age 81 from Fifty Six, AR passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Russell was the son of Robert O. (Shorty) Burrow & Vaudean Kynion Burrow. He was born on July 6, 1942, at home in the Allendale community in Monroe County, AR. Russell graduated from Brinkley High School in 1960 where he had the joy of meeting his lifetime best friend, Billy Patterson, whom he loved like a brother.
Russell cherished the time working on the family farm with his dad and brothers, Robert and Carl. He married Kay Deason Burrow and together they had two sons, Gary Dwayne & Russell Mitchum (Mitch) Burrow. He also has a daughter, Lisa Hankins Barnes.
For many years the Burrow farm shop was the place everyone in the community felt welcome to stop by. There was always lots of love, generosity and freshly prepared wildlife, fish, or anything else they could find to cook. The family worked hard and made many memories of farming together.
Due to physical injury and deteriorating health, Russell was forced into early retirement. Around 1990, to find solitude and to escape the demands of farming Russell moved to Fifty Six, AR where he started a new life in his quiet little shack. Exploring Stone County and every back road he could go down gave him joy, peace and contentment.
He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He always enjoyed gardening and sharing his freshly grown fruits and vegetables with his family, friends and neighbors.
Russell had a multitude of family and friends who loved him and would stop by to visit with him without notice. Together they would talk about the good ole days and enjoy the hospitality he always offered. Even though he suffered tragedy and hardship in life Russell had a blessed life and was always ready to help someone in need.
Russell was a member of the First Methodist Church in Mt. View, where he joined with his closest friends that were family to him, Shawn & Laurey Peck, along with good friends Danny & Regina Smith, Russell spent the final years of his life going to auctions, doctor visits, and caring deeply for one another.
Russell is survived by his daughter: Lisa (Travis) Barnes, brother: Robert (Kay) Burrow, nephews: Ronnie (Delana) Burrow, Donnie Burrow, Kyn (Kim) Burrow, niece: Becca (Garett) Denton, grandchildren: Kayla (Alan) Woessner, Jonathan (Shelby) Barnes, great-grandchildren: Atlas & Brielle Woessner, and a host of extended family & friends.
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, and his brother, Carl.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 16, 2023, at United Methodist Church, 116 Jefferson St, Mt View, AR 72560.
His cremated remains will be dispersed at various locations that had special memories for Russell in Stone County, Brinkley, and Choctaw Cemetery.
