Mrs. Alice Faye (Tidwell) Cowell of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life of Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the age of 77. She was born July 17, 1946 in Trumann, the daughter of Carl Tidwell and Billie Jo (Ramsey) Tidwell.
Mrs. Cowell attended Newport school and was of the Christian belief. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing when she was younger, making capes for children. Mrs. Cowell enjoyed shopping at antique malls and yard sales, while collecting jewelry and other things. She and her husband spent time traveling to Virginia and many other states and made many friends along the way. Mrs. Cowell also loved spending time with her sisters.
Mrs. Cowell was preceded in death by one son, Michael Dean Cowell; one brother, Charles Tidwell; two sisters, Becky Tilley and Wilma Mercado; one grandson, Michael Wesley Cowell; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leroy Cowell, of the home; two sons, Charles Cowell and wife, Paula, of Newport and Gerald Cowell of Campbell Station; three brothers, Leon Tidwell of Jacksonport, Donald Tidwell of Newport, and Scotty Tidwell and wife, Stacey, of Paragould; four sisters, Dorothy Sweat of Newport, Sue Asher and husband, Roger, of Diaz, Diana Ford and husband, John, of Newport, and Karen Washington and husband, John, of Campbell Station; two grandchildren, Tiffany Mosley of Farmington, New Mexico and Cody Cowell and Jessa, of Newport; one great grandson, Denver Cowell of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Watson Cemetery, with John Washington III officiating.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Cody Cowell, Shawn Haigwood, John Ford, John Washington III, Roger Asher, and John Washington, Jr. Honorary pallbearer is Leon Tidwell.
