Justin Ford Burge, 91, of Batesville, Arkansas died Aug. 21, 2023, at White River Medical Center surrounded by love and prayer.

He was of the Baptist faith and a long-time member of Pleasant Valley Church. Justin chose many different jobs over his lifetime. He was a farmer, a jail supervisor, Santa Claus for the City of Batesville, and more. But the one occupation he loved most and was most proud of was one he did not choose but was called by God to do. He loved serving God and preaching about God’s love. Justin lived, breathed, walked and talked for Jesus and of his salvation. He wanted everyone to know the same peace and comfort he knew by knowing his Lord and Savior.

Justin was born to Ernest and Geneva (Ford) Burge. Justin was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife and the mother of his two children, Emmaleen Satterwhite Burge, by his precious son, Noel Burge, by his brother Thomas Neal Burge, by his sweet sweet sister, Anna Lee Carreiro, by a granddaughter Austin Rose Wigington, and by many many relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty Burge; a daughter Dana (Kenny) Bennett of Strawberry, AR; Johnny (Paula) Wigington of Marshall, TX; David (Steve) Wigington-Moore of San Antonio, TX; a granddaughter, Megan (Matt) Cohn of Kennett, MO.; and three grandsons, John Michael (Paola) Wiginton of Killeen, TX, Jacob (Kelsey) Wigington of Marshall, TX, and Jeremy Wigington of Katy, TX. Great grandchildren are Jagger Cohn, Hudson Cohn, Danica Morales, Layne, Charlie and Laurel Wigington, and Evan Wigington.

Justin leaves behind so many friends, family and a legacy that is unmatched. He was one of a kind. He always had a positive attitude, a kind word, a scripture, a helping hand, a smile or a hug to share. Justin loved his God and his family. He loved to have a good meal with a cup of coffee and a side of dessert. He most likely was wearing a little of it on his shirt or tie. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his blessed life will be held Sunday, Sept 3 starting at 2:00 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville, AR. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to White River Medical Center Auxiliary or Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
