Malisa Jayne Spooner-Essmeyer, 63, passed away on September 11, 2023, in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born on March 8, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri to Henry “Hank” Essmeyer and Thelma (Caldwell) Essmeyer. Malisa was fun, witty, and a free spirit. She enjoyed dancing, and crafting, and loved animals, especially her cat and dog. Malisa traveled all over the world with the love of her life, Randy. They enjoyed traveling to trade shows, riding motorcycles, and going to the lake. Malisa never had any regrets in her life and got to see and do everything she ever wanted. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her daughter and her grandkids. Malisa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all those who loved her.
Malisa is survived by her daughter, Chalee Mourer; grandchildren, Jayden Mourer-Long (Jacob) and Maycee Mourer; sisters, Becky Jiles, Cyndi Engles (Scott), and Stephanie Anderson (Keith); nieces and nephews, Kelli Carnett, Keegan Engles, Kacee Engles-Tosh (Tim), Emily Fike (Tad), Alexie Edwards (Josh), and Spencer Cruthis (Maddie); and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Minnie Lashley; maternal grandfather, Ollie Caldwell; her parents, Henry “Hank” Essmeyer and Thelma (Caldwell) Essmeyer; love of her life, Randy Spooner; and son-in-law, Kurt Mourer.
A private service for the family will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Flowers can be brought to the funeral home.
