The Batesville Pioneer Band kicked off football season on a positive note during the Pioneer’s first game against Searcy on Aug. 25, receiving praise from a Searcy parent.
In an email sent to the Batesville School District, Searcy parent TJ Steward said, “I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention the Batesville Pioneer Band from Friday night. I was one of the parents that worked the concession stand on the visitor side. I want to brag on every one of the band members. Every student that came to the concession stand showed best manners. At the end of the night, a young man approached us about trash bags. They wanted to make sure they picked up after themselves.”
“Any time I take my band students somewhere, I always remind them that they are representing their school, their band, and their directors,” Batesville Band Director Amanda Lucy said in response to the email. “They never fail to make me proud in that aspect. Band kids are a special group of kids, and I love being able to work with them every day.”
In preparation for marching and football season, students spend a significant amount of time with their band directors rehearsing their sets for the marching show and contest season, along with practicing music for the stands. Win or lose, the hope is students everywhere will have pride in the way they conduct themselves at home and away.
“As a parent and a Searcy fan, I hope our students and fans conduct themselves the same way on away games!” Steward wrote.
“Win or lose at the end of the day, we are just trying to raise good humans, and it felt good to know someone saw the hard work our coaches, directors, and leaders put in each day to ensure that happens,” said Megan Renihan, Batesville School District’s communications coordinator.
