Elline Asberry Davis, 98, of Cave City, Arkansas passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born October 11, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to Joseph and Maxie (McCracken) Gay. She was employed at Kelly’s Restaurant in Batesville and sold Stanley Home Products for many years. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City for 47 years and she was a lifelong Christian. Elline enjoyed gospel music, gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, J.D. Asberry and her second husband, Loren Davis; two daughters, Sheilda Wilson and Yvonne Asberry; two grandchildren, Misty Asberry and Randall Wilson; three brothers; two sisters; a daughter in law, Linda Kaye Asberry; and a son in law, Devoe Simpson.
She is survived by her son, Larry Asberry of Cave City; her daughter, Maxine Simpson of Southside; five grandchildren, Cheryl Jacobsen (Keith), Keith Wilson (Sherry), Gregg Asberry (Debbie), Nita Simpson, Kyla Gillihan (Mark) and thirteen great grandchildren; seventeen great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Ron Canard and Keith Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Cave City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Wilson, Matt Martens, Colton Asberry, Tyler Asberry, Brandon Wilson, Seth Wilson, Dallas Gillihan, Steven Jacobsen and Taylor Asberry.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff of First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City and Dr. Andy Davidson.
