An area college campus will now have additional safety protection thanks to a new partnership.
On Friday, Arkansas State University-Beebe and the City of Heber Springs will sign a memorandum of understanding for using a Heber Springs Police Department patrol vehicle by the ASU-Beebe Heber Springs Campus Police Department.
In a media release, ASU-Beebe said the college and city partnership will fill a critical need at the campus.
While ownership of the patrol vehicle will remain with the City of Heber Springs, ASU-Beebe will include it on the college’s insurance and provide maintenance for the vehicle while in possession.
ASU-Beebe said the patrol car provides added safety protection for the Heber Springs campus and underscores the value of the existing relationship between the college and the surrounding community.
