The resource officer for the Midland School District has been named to receive the inaugural Citizens Bank “Shine Like a Mustang” award.
Jason Cole was named Wednesday to receive the honor.
According to a media release, Citizens Bank and the Midland School District aim to recognize staff members with the new program, “…who shine in their role as a Mustang to live out the district’s vision to engage learning at high levels and embrace challenges without fear of failure.”
Staff nominate the award recipients who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award will be presented at the Midland School Board meeting each month.
In the release, Citizens Bank said, “Officer Jason Cole goes the extra mile for those across the Midland School District by prioritizing the development of mentor relationships and investing his time into the personal wellbeing of whom he serves.”
His peers said:
- “Officer Cole literally goes above and beyond for our students. He spends his personal time and money to create opportunities for our kids. He has made mentor programs, designed an opportunity for students to go on a hunting trip, and spends his lunch checking in on students.”
- “Jason works hard to develop positive relationships with students. He’s also initiated a student mentor program at the elementary campus that supports our vision to expand students’ potential for success.”
