Shana Headley (pictured above with Citizens Bank’s Landon Downing), special education teacher at Eagle Mountain Elementary, was named Monday to receive the October “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award.”
Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges.
In a media release, the bank said Headley has a deep enthusiasm for serving others and goes the extra mile to meet the needs of students and teachers alike.
Fellow staff said:
- “Shana is always willing to pitch in and help whenever necessary. She works hard to make sure all of her students’ needs are met. She has a great attitude and always has a smile on her face. Her willingness to do whatever it takes for our students and school is something to be commended.”
- “Shana works hard to do what is best for her students and is always ready to help a teacher understand the needs of their students, too. Shana also does whatever is needed to keep our school running smoothly, and she does it with a beautiful smile.”
- “She loves her students, and they know it. She is helpful to the staff and brings a positive attitude and smile to the many activities she helps with around the school.”
- “Shana helps anyone in need, with no questions asked. She volunteers daily for morning car rider duty to make it easier for the rest of the SPED team, all while working evening car rider duty as well.”
Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
