Obituary: Martha Dean (Guthrie) Mask

Martha Dean (Guthrie) Mask, a resident of Mountain View, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 90. Martha was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas on September 7, 1933, the daughter of Ollie and Loretta (Williams) Guthrie.

In her early years, family and friends knew Martha as “Deanie,” but later in life she answered to “Momma” and “Mamaw.” Martha married the love of her life, Albert Mask, on June 2, 1951, and the couple was blessed with five children. Martha occupied her years with being a loving mother and homemaker. As Martha and Albert’s family grew, they were blessed many times over with a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Martha and Albert cherished nearly 66 years together before Albert’s passing in 2017. Martha enjoyed reading, and she was a member of the School Avenue Church of Christ in Mountain View.

Mrs. Mask was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Mask; parents, Ollie and Loretta Guthrie; a son Charles Mask; two daughters, Brenda Mask and Linda Caldwell; two brothers, Walter and George Guthrie; a sister, Lula Mae Walls; and two grandsons, Devon and Bobby, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Mask of Heber Springs, and Joe Mask and wife, Patricia, of Holden, Louisiana; three sisters, Jeanette, Charlene, and Virginia; 13 grandchildren, Misty (Jeremy), Kim (Marty), Brandon (Jill), Whitney (Brett), Jacob (Jessica), Kamdyn, Jonathan (Rhonda), Lonnie (Melissa), B.J. (Brad), Wade (Tiffany), Violet (Elliot), Dawn (Brett), and Sandy; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Mr. Finis Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Vanndale Cemetery.

Friends may visit the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to service time.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brett Baker, Cole Campbell, Jeremy Glenn, Brandon Mask, Jacob Mask, Jonathan Mask, Lonnie Mask, and Wade Mask.
