Sharp County authorities believe the deaths of a father and son, whose bodies were discovered in a hunting cabin by the son’s grandfather Sunday morning, are the likely result of carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to Region 8 News, deputies responded to the scene located in Wirth, Ark., around 11 a.m., and found the two men to be non-responsive inside the cabin.
Sharp County Sheriff Shane Russell told Region 8 the grandfather said a five-burner stove was utilized to heat the cabin and would sometimes malfunction.
The bodies of both men have been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsies. The men’s identities have not been released have not been released by authorities at this time.
