Last month, The Aspen Institute named the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) one of the 150 institutions eligible to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance among two-year colleges.

UACCB Chancellor Dr. Brian Shonk (pictured above) recently dropped by White River Now to visit with Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ’s Wes Gwaltney about the honor. Shonk also discusses the advantages of the Arkansas Transfer Achievement Scholarship and the college’s short-term technical programs, such as the heavy equipment operator and five-week truck driving courses.
