The Law Enforcement Community Relations Team and Janet Smart Agency are teaming to reach out to area businesses on behalf of the Batesville Police Department’s K9 unit to raise awareness and funds for the department’s next K9.
The department currently has one K9, Mixxy, but he is a bomb dog, not a multipurpose drug dog like Benny and Logic were. Unfortunately, they both passed away this year due to unforeseen circumstances.
Logic and Benny, pictured above, served our community by keeping drugs out of our schools and off the streets, and by protecting law enforcement during traffic stops, search warrants, and other efforts.
Purchasing and training multipurpose K9s like Logic and Benny can cost around $15,000. The Law Enforcement Community Relations Team is asking the community to come together and to help raise funds for our next K9.
As an example, Janet Smart Agency is donating $100 for every life insurance policy sold until the money is raised. They have also installed a goal tracker at BatesvilleInsurance.com to keep up with the money raised.
Monetary donations from businesses are also welcome by sending donations to:

169 Mount Springs Rd.
Batesville, AR 72501
A memo for “K9 Unit” should be noted on each check.
