Georgia Willene (Weddington) Partain, 89 of Paragould, Arkansas departed this life on November 30, 2023, at her residence.
She was born December 1, 1933 in Colt, Arkansas. Willene was the daughter of Willie Lee and Julia Marie (Kelso) Weddington and they have both preceded her in death. Willene married Mr. Wayne Partain and he preceded her in death, passing in 1997. Willene was also preceded in death by one brother, John William Weddington, one sister, Mary Ruth Shively and one grandchild, Michelle Moore.
She is survived by two daughters: Julia Partain and Ira and husband Johnny Moore all of Paragould, one sister, Jane Luker of Forrest City, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jessi and husband Tony and their combined family, Lily, Aiden, Madison and Abagail of Marmaduke.
Willene, being born during the Depression years taught herself many things, if there was a job to do, she got it done. She loved sewing for her family and learned how to do that sitting in her Mom’s lap at a Singer, treadle sewing machine. She also believed this was the reason she was able to get and enjoy her job at Addison Shoe Mfg. Co. She retired from Addison in 2010. She was a member in Hydrick Baptist Church for some 50 years joining on September 14, 1975. During those years she served as Secretary/ Treasurer, teaching classes from children all the way to adults. She had a beautiful voice and as an active church member, she sang special songs and read Poems. Believe it or not, she made washing dishes fun, this was usually after Sunday dinner of fried chicken and chocolate pie. After Mr. Partain passed away, so she would not have to rely on others for transportation at age of about 70, she took the driver’s test and got her license. She purchased her first car. Later she enrolled in an adult education class, studied, and took the test, and her document says “high school” diploma. At the end of her life she was a hospice patient with aides and others visiting. She sang for them, and occasionally they joined in. This seemed to bring her joy. She was a kind and loving person, who was loved by everyone.
