The Batesville Police Department (BPD) is investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in a North State Street residence on Tuesday.

Chief Alan Cockrill told White River Now this morning that BPD officers responded to a call of an unresponsive male at the residence shortly after noon yesterday.

When BPD investigators came to the scene, the death was ruled “suspicious,” and the body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The identification of the man has not yet been disclosed. Cockrill said the case is currently under investigation, and more information will be released as it develops.
