Mountain View Mayor Roger Gardner told White River Now Thursday morning that the city water department is beginning to pump water back into the system after days of being out of service. But, as water first returns to all rural areas and associations connected to the Mountain View water system, the mayor stressed a boil order will still be in effect.
“When water begins to return, anyone on the Mountain View water system will still be under a boil order until further notice,” Gardner said.
“Everything’s improving. We have a line on some of our issues with our main pumps and have some of them pulling in water right now. I’m not going to shut down my auxiliary pumps yet, so we’re continuing to run them.”
Conserving water as it returns is also important, the mayor said.
The mayor said consistent flushing of the lines likely helped resolve some of the issues.
“It’s one of those deals, you know,” Gardner said. “You get a clog, and you keep poking at it, and eventually, it’ll come loose, and we hope that’s what happened.”
Gardner credits crews who worked “day and night” to help troubleshoot and address the issues. He also thanked the cities of Batesville, Marshall, and Melbourne for their assistance and Izard County.
