Obituary: Bobby Loyd Davis

Bobby Loyd Davis of Oil Trough, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born May 26, 1944, at Union Hill, the son of Boyd George Davis and Hazel (Curtis) Fraser.

Mr. Davis was a foreman for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. He was an Oil Trough United Methodist Church member and served on numerous church committees. He was the Mayor of Oil Trough for many years and was so proud of the town. He helped see many changes in improvements and helped build the new City Hall.

On May 18, 1963, Mr. Bobby Davis married Miss Mary Sullivan and they have shared sixty years. A practical jokester at heart, he was an avid golfer and loved to go quail hunting. Mr. Davis spent many hours working in his yard and took great pride in keeping it up. Above all, he loved his family and the time they spent gathered together.

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his son, Tony Michael Davis; his daughter, April Lynn Davis; one brother, Kenneth Dewayne Davis; three sisters, Martha Jean Davis, Evelyn Lindsey, and Effie Joyce Adair; and his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Sullivan) Davis, of the home; his granddaughter and the light of his life, Micah Elizabeth Hightower and husband, Justin, of Marmaduke; one brother, Adron Davis; his great-grand dog, Scout; and several other family members.

Friends may visit Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home on Sunday evening, January 21, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Oil Trough, with Rev. Clayton Bulice officiating. The interment will be in Allen’s Chapel Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Davidson, John Sullivan, Matthew Sullivan, John Kelley, Corby Sullivan, and Bill Woods. Honorary pallbearers are Gonn Gann, Alfred Sullivan, W.F. Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Jackie Cook, Ed Dunham, and Joseph Rhodes.
