Leatha Juanita (Morgan) Muir of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born August 3, 1944, the daughter of Charles and Leatha (Adams) Morgan.
On January 29, 1965, Miss Leatha Juanita Morgan married Mr. John Muir. She was a factory worker at VanHeusan for 35 years until her retirement. Mrs. Muir was a member of the Assembly of God church at Tupelo. She loved children and gladly taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Muir was known as an expert pie maker and also enjoyed going out and to eat with her loved ones. She loved to camp and go fishing. She was a proud collector of Barbie dolls and owned over two hundred dolls. Mrs. Muir’s greatest joy in life was her family and she cherished every moment spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Mrs. Muir was preceded in death by one brother, Chester Morgan; three sisters, Lorene Bankster, Janette Neldon, and Dorothy Miller; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband of just seven days shy of 59 years, John Muir, of the home; one son, Allen Muir, of Newport; one daughter, Kelly Foster and husband, Keith, of Judsonia; and two grandchildren, Kyle Foster of Kensett and Andrew Foster and wife, Linzi, of Cabot.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, January 26, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Leonard Hodges officiating. Interment will be in Sandhill Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kyle Foster, Andrew Foster, Scotty Tooley, Brent Dooley, Cliff Morgan, and Teddy Bankster. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Foster, David Morgan, Maryann Metcalf, Mary Francis Clark, Barbie Cover, Greg Dewitt, Eddie Watkins, Janie Rouse, and Mike Pridmore.
