Drivers in the Southside area will face changes in speed limits starting next week, particularly near Southside Elementary School.

Mayor Ray Bowman announced that the 45 mph speed limit on Batesville Boulevard/Highway 167 would be extended further south of the Southside Fire Department. The speed limit will then be increased to 55 mph before eventually turning to 60 mph.

Additionally, a new speed limit zone of 25 mph will be implemented in front of Southside Elementary School whenever children are present.

Mayor Bowman stated that these changes will be implemented starting on Monday.
