Lyon College has announced that enrollment for the spring 2024 semester has increased significantly from the previous year.
According to a release from the college, 558 students have enrolled for the semester, representing a 27% increase from the previous year’s enrollment of 440 students.
In addition, Lyon College has achieved a first-time, full-time student retention rate of 92%, which is close to record levels.
The release said the retention rate can be attributed to “…the college’s commitment to creating a supportive learning environment and its personalized approach to education.”
Lyon College has also shown a rise in transfer-student and international-student enrollment this semester. This increase can be attributed to the college’s collaborations with two-year colleges and the expansion of its International Education program from 23 students in spring 2023 to 37 students in spring 2024.
“We are very pleased to see such a high freshman retention rate as well as strong growth in the overall student body. Both are testaments to Lyon College’s dedication to providing a top-tier education,” Provost Dr. Kurt Grafton said. “Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to cultivate an environment where students thrive academically, personally and professionally.”
President Dr. Melissa Taverner echoed Grafton’s sentiments, emphasizing Lyon College’s commitment to student success.
“At Lyon, we prioritize the holistic development of our students, ensuring they have access to the resources and support necessary to excel in their academic pursuits,” Taverner said. “Our exceptional growth and retention rate are indicative of our collective efforts to empower students to reach their fullest potential.”
