Luther Odean Templeton of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born February 16, 1930, in Bald Knob, the son of Will G. and Myrtle Belle (Slagley) Templeton.
Mr. Templeton was a veteran of the United States Army who served in the Korean War. He currently held the honor of being Swifton’s Oldest Veteran.
For many years he worked as an electrician at Norandal until his retirement in 1992. In his younger years,
he was a farmer.
He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his dogs, whom he always named Cookie or Boggie. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly and was incredibly proud of his children. He was a member of the Swifton Church of Christ.
Mr. Templeton was preceded in death by his step-son, Allan Couch; one grandson, Jaxson Steele; two brothers, Benny Burns Templeton and Eugene Templeton; four sisters, Jewell Washam, Lucille Gay, Hazel House, and Lois Tompkins; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Amelia Silvia (Dabila) Templeton of the home; three sons, Ronnie Templeton and wife, Lavonne of Swifton, Steven Templeton and wife, Becky of Newport, and Michael Templeton and wife, Donna of Tuckerman; one daughter, Tammy Foster, and husband, Jimmy of Southside; one brother, Larry Templeton, and wife, Linda of Swifton; one sister, Dana Fay Templeton of Swifton; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a special niece, Judy Tompkins; a special great-nephew, Michael Wonzong; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
