A Newport man died after a two-vehicle accident in rural Jackson County Wednesday morning.
In the fatality report, Arkansas State Police said Harley L. Liles, 59, was killed when the westbound 2022 Taotao moped he was driving on Highway 384 was struck from behind by a 2014 GMC Acadia. The driver of the Acadia, whose name was not listed on the report, was not injured.
The weather was cloudy and the road dry at the time of the accident, which, according to the report, occurred at 6:37 p.m.
The death was the 55th fatality on Arkansas highways in 2024.
