Cornelius Hankins Burrow, 100, of Rosie departed this life on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born in Elmo, Arkansas on December 2, 1923, to William H. and Mary E. (Hankins) Burrow.
In 1959, he embarked on a career selling batteries, co-founding B & T Battery, where he dedicated himself until retirement in 1980. An unwavering supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, he celebrated their victories with fervor. Fishing, traveling, and cherished family time filled his retirement years. A devout member of Rosie Baptist Church, he found solace in faith. Serving his country with valor, he fought in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Germany and France. His legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love for family and country will forever endure in the hearts of those he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Beatrice, Clarice, Beulah, and Nina; his brothers, Henson, and Travis; his son-in-law, Jackie; and his wife of seventy years, Jetta Burrow.
He is survived by his sons, Neil Burrow (Cathy) of Southside and Keith Burrow (Kathey) of Rosie; his daughters, Linda Rounds of Southside, Cheryl Shaw (Larry) of Rosie, Cynthia Kramer (Bobby) of Rosie and Cathy Jones (Lyndell) of Newark; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Service will be at 10:00a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Rosie Baptist Church with Brother Farrell Miller officiating. Interment will be at Wyatt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 on Sunday. March 3, 2024, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons, Kevin Shaw, Kirk Shaw, Dustin Kramer, Landon Kramer, Tyler Burrow, Paul Jones, Adam Jones, Andy Burrow, and Corey Burrow. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, Kristie Rounds, Kim White, Lucie Mobley, Lea Rounds, and Kaci Burrow.
The family of Mr. Cornelius Burrow would like to thank the staff of Caring Hands Hospice and the staff of Woodlawn Heights for the excellent care that was given to Mr. Burrow during his time of need.
