Shelby Dale Pennington, the son of the late Shelby and Jessie Pennington, was born July 25th, 1938 in Newport, Arkansas and passed away March 6th, 2024 in Mountain View, Arkansas at the age of 85 years, seven months, one week, and three days old.
He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. All his life, Shelby worked as a farmer to provide for the family he loved. He was a Christian and of the Church of Christ faith. He was a member of the School Avenue Church of Christ.
Shelby was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Pennington; parents, Shelby and Jessie Pennington; one infant son, Baby Pennington; two brothers, Autis Pennington and Buddy Pennington; one sister, Carolyn Massy.
Left to cherish his memories are his two children, Dale Marie Whitfield (Kenny) and Ricky Lee Pennington; one grandson, Bobby Allen Switzer (Ashley); three granddaughters, Krystal Marie Rose (Ross), Valerie Johnston (Derek), and Kelsea Fawn Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Kate Rose, Cameron Rose, Samson Johnston, and Eden Johnston. Shelby is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm with funeral services immediately following. Services will be held at School Avenue Church of Christ, in Mountain View, Arkansas, with Brother Finis Brewer and Brother Junior Barham officiating the service. The interment will take place at Big Springs Cemetery in Newnata, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Bobby Switzer, Darrell Denton, Wayne Denton, David Massey, Mike Pennington, and Allen Skimahorn.
The Honorary Pallbearer is Junior Lamberth.
