Scots softball falls to Penn State Schuylkill in USCAA Small College World Series

DUBOIS, Penn.—The Lyon College Scots softball team lost a 1-0 decision to the Penn State Schuylkill Lions in the first round of the USCAA Small College Softball World Series at Heindl Field.

The Scots (19-18) had only two hits in the game. The Lions only had three hits and scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning on a single to left field.

Mckenzie Campbell and Sophie Varela were the only two to get hits for Lyon College. Campbell also drew a walk and on the mound struck out nine batters.

The Scots will face Penn State-Dubois, which lost to Salem 7-4 in the first round, at 11 a.m. Tuesday. A win in their second game would mean a game against Salem at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
