Syble Lavita (Runyon) Simpson, 88, of Newport departed this life on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.  She was born on September 11, 1935, to Dellie and Vera Crayton (Long) Runyon.

Syble enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidering, creating beautiful pieces cherished by her loved ones. She loved cooking for her family, her favorite meal to prepare was fried potatoes, pork chops, biscuits, and pineapple upside-down cake. Her kitchen was always filled with love and delicious aromas. As a devoted member of Faith Assembly Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Syble will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her culinary delights, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. She leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship that will be cherished by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Simpson; her son, Jimmy Simpson; her daughter, Syble Diane Simpson “Sissy”; her brothers, Junior Runyon, Billy Runyon, D.R. Runyon; and her sister, Virginia Park.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Simpson (Patty) of Algoa; her daughter, Angie McGee (Pat) of Newport; her brothers, Doyle Runyon (Sarah) of Tupelo, Truman Runyon (Sandy) of Tupelo, and Jacky Runyon of McCrory; her sisters, Brenda Jackson of Tupelo and Ann Davis (Jim) of Judsonia; her grandchildren, Jimmy Simpson II (Kaitlyn) of Jacksonport, Patrick McGee (Jessie) of Newport, and Michelle Morris of Newport; her great-grandchildren, Logan Morris (Te’Nisha) of Newport, Landon Morris of Newport, Parker Simpson of Jacksonport, Sawyer Simpson of Jacksonport, Jack McGee of Newport, and Indie McGee of Newport; her great-great-grandchildren, Dash Morris, Brayden Morris and Kilee Morris.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy Simpson, Patrick McGee, Logan Morris, Dennis Runyon, Michael Runyon, and Dewayne Runyon.

Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Sand Hill Cemetery with Bro. Brandon Gates officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
