Obituary: Joy E. Harmon

Joy E. Harmon, 94, was born in McCory AR February 15, 1930, and died in Batesville, AR at Woodlawn Heights on May 25, 2024.

Joy was employed in several types of work in her lifetime, but her last trade was as a self-employed dog groomer which she greatly enjoyed.

Joy was married to Lyle R. Harmon who was the love of her life. She lived in South Bend, IN where she worked and raised her family. She returned to Arkansas to help care for her aging parents.

Joy enjoyed growing flowers, and always had a large garden every summer. She enjoyed canning and freezing for her family. She loved all animals but had a special fondness for parakeets and cockatiels.

Joy is survived by three children, Michael, Michele, and Mark. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Geoffrey, and Andrea, and two great-grandchildren Xander, and Orion. Joy also has one surviving brother Doyle.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents Noel Martin, and Eva (Strother) Martin, her husband Lyle, three brothers Winfred Martin, James Martin, Ben Martin, and two sisters Velma Goodman, and Barbara Collins.

Joy was a long-time member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses South Congregation. She spent much time speaking with people about her love of God and her hope for the future.

There will be a memorial talk for Joy at the Kingdom Hall 2291 White Drive on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2 P.M. Joy will be cremated and will be buried at Kyler Cemetery.
