Stephanie Dayberry (pictured above, left, with Citizens Bank’s Julie Warden), a fifth and sixth-grade teacher at Midland Elementary, was recently Monday to receive the May Citizens Bank “Shine Like a Mustang” award.
Citizens Bank said in a media release that Dayberry turns reading into an adventure tailored to each of her students’ passions through endless dedication and thoughtful planning.
Dayberry’s peers said of her:
- “Stephanie goes above and beyond the call of a teacher. She learns her students’ interests and uses it to inspire a love of reading. Students who hated reading now find themselves rushing to her library. She loves her school and her kids.”
- “Stephanie is a light to others! She has inspired so many students to fall in love with reading. She spends many hours outside the school day to plan for her kids. She celebrates kid’s interests and encourages them in all they do to help them feel loved and special.”
With this program, Citizens Bank and Midland School District aim to recognize staff members who shine in their role as a Mustang to live out the district’s vision to engage learning at high levels and embrace challenges without fear of failure. Staff nominate the award recipients who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Midland School Board meeting each month.
