Marvin” Dean” Abernathy, 81, of Newport, left this earth on May 31, 2024. He was a veteran of the U.S . Army National Guard. He was born in Newport, AR on August 2, 1942, to Marvin (Mutt) and Lillian Abernathy.
He was a welder and of the Baptist belief. Mr. Abernathy found enjoyment in hunting, especially squirrel and deer hunting. He loved to fish and play the drums in a band.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Tommy Abernathy.
He is survived by his daughters; Leah Abernathy of North Little Rock, Deanna Abernathy of Searcy, two grandchildren Josh Reid of Searcy and Landon Cook of California, brother Danny Abernathy of Newport, and a host of friends including two special friends; Steve Templeton and Don Giffin, Sr.
A memorial service will be at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel on June 10, 2024, at 11 am. Visitation will be from 10:30 till service time. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
