Two individuals were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle accident north of Batesville on Thursday.

According to reports, a furniture delivery truck apparently rear-ended a gas delivery truck on U.S. Highway 167 near J.W. & Sons scrap metal. One person with severe injuries was airlifted to UAMS in Little Rock, while another was taken to the White River Health emergency room in Batesville.

Another accident occurred early Thursday afternoon on Highway 167, south of Batesville, causing traffic to move slowly in both lanes on Ramsey Mountain. Authorities say a northbound chicken truck overturned in the outside lane of Highway 167 in the 12 p.m. hour.

The cleanup kept traffic moving at a snail’s pace for at least two hours. There were no reports of injuries.
