Local athlete Josey Duncan (pictured) added another accolade to her cheerleading career on Monday by qualifying for the National Cheerleading Association’s (NCA) All-American Team, as announced at the NCA Cheer Camp in Hot Springs, Ark.

According to a release submitted to White River Now, “…the two-time officer for Southside Charter High School’s Varsity Cheer was one of two Southside student-athletes to earn NCA All-American Team honors and the first to do so for the third straight season in recent program history.”

As part of a select group of All-Americans, Josey has been invited to perform at Varsity Special Events, including an exclusive performance at Walt Disney World Resort. Josey performed at Disney in 2023 and 2022 and plans to return for this year’s Varsity Spirit Spectacular, the release noted.

“I’m absolutely honored,” Duncan said in the release. “The All-American criteria vary among cheer organizations; some are even peer-voted. So, receiving the All-American nomination from an NCA instructor and making the NCA All-American Team after individual tryouts is the most prestigious cheerleading recognition I could ever hope to get. See y’all at the castle.”
